Coffee bars, as is well known, have long become one of the favorite places of the Albanian people. It is no coincidence, in fact, that turning to the capital Tirana, for example, the number of rooms is multiplied meter by meter.
According to data from the Albanian Statistics Institute (Instat), the ratio between total population of around 2.870.000 inhabitants and number of bars is the highest in the world.
Albania even reaches the figure of 654 activity every 100.000 inhabitants; one every 152 inhabitants.
Nonetheless, however, an Albanian citizen consumes an average of 3,2 kg of coffee per year, lowest figure in the Balkans (the highest in Serbia, with 5,4 kg) based on import data published by customs.
Precisely the latter, for the first time since 2007, have registered a decline passing from the 8884 tons of coffee imported in the 2016 to the 8485 important tons in the 2017.
A decrease of 4,6% after that in the last five years this value had even increased by 30%. The main importing countries continue to remain Italy e Greece.
This slight decrease was caused mainly by the decrease in coffee consumption in the country; a paradox if you consider that coffee bars in Albania are always full in practice from morning until evening.
Who consumes the most in the world
Scandinavian countries stand out among the countries with the highest consumption of coffee. The first nation in the world for coffee consumption, in fact, is the Finland with 9,1 kg of average per year per inhabitant, followed by the Norway with 7,2 kg of coffee average per year per inhabitant. THE'Italy places itself in thirteenth place, ahead of countries like Brazil, Germany and France.
Among the countries with the lowest consumption, on the other hand, Asian countries emerge above all because of the culture that distinguishes them and that prefers tea with coffee.
- 25 millions of people live and maintain their families thanks to the coffee plant
- There are two types: Arabica and Robusta
- The bar-coffee activities are those with the fastest growth, estimated at 7% per year
- The 90% of production takes place in developing countries, consumption in industrialized countries
