Africa proud of warriors in the ancestral savannas
Africa that my Ava sings
By the far river
I never saw you
But I have the look of your full blood
Your black blood on the fields poured
Blood of your sweat
Sweat of your work
Work of slaves
Slavery of your children
Africa tell me Africa
So you are the back that bends
And he prostrates himself to the weight of humility
Red trembling spine
That consents to the whip on the streets of the South
Then a grave voice answered me
Raging son the strong young tree
That tree over there
Beautifully only among the white withered flowers
It is Africa your Africa that again sprouts
And whose fruits gradually acquire
The bitter taste of freedom
"Amadou Hampaté Ba"
A poem read with much love at the opening of the migrant's week Meetings of peoples.
The Migrant Week is a festival dedicated to immigration and interculture organized by the Province of Parma, in the month of April, and made by over 30 voluntary and social promotion associations composed of Italians and foreign citizens of different nationalities. A week of debates and shows, which also saw the inauguration of Stefano Vivan's photo exhibition Images of migrant women.
Diana Teneva, one of the organizers, talks about the exhibition, which will remain open throughout April in Via Bandini, 6 at the Solidarity Forum at the Parma Intercultural Center.
“The face of the photographed women, in the photo exhibition, is a mirror of their interiority. From Japan to Parma, smiles that make you dream of an enchanting Asia. From Russia and Morocco intertwine in Parma. From Mexico a ray of sunshine. From the land of eagles and from the land of spices, Albania and India, the meeting in Parma. Desert roses, Morocco and Tunisia. The sun rises from the east: Bulgaria and Russia. The most beautiful smile of Parma, the Ivory Coast.
And I stopped in that smile of Asta Vinci of the Ivory Coast, turned on display, to bring a little joy.
What feelings do you, migrant woman live?
"People wonder why I always play the positive part. Perhaps because I don't realize the real problems of humanity? Is that why I always smile?
I would say no! Life always puts us in front of challenges, big or small, every day. We must not lose hope of building a solid existence based on dignity. Life is a continuous struggle, we can transform whatever happens to us into a positive or negative factor depending on the way we perceive it. When the determination changes, everything starts moving in the direction you want. A sincere, true smile is a gift made to another person ... it is not a manifestation of serenity.
I don't like barriers, of any kind ... It is the man himself who poses the obstacles. I wish I could build a bridge that connects every part of the world and break down in this way any diversity (cultural, racial, thought, etc.). I would like a world without selfishness or hatred. Cultural diversity is a wealth that must be protected (including lifestyles, fundamental human rights, value systems, beliefs and traditions).
I lived a wonderful virtual journey with Stefano. The fact of deepening the knowledge of different cultures through photos brings joy. The beauty of these photos is poetic beauty.
"An audience that was not numerous, but very attentive, assisted and animated the presentation. A dialectic has been established between the author, the people who posed for the photos and the people who participated in the event that was difficult to forget. Positive or critical questions and considerations are a priceless treasure for me! PORTRAITS OF MIGRANT WOMEN is my most significant show and the feeling I felt when I printed the photos last week was not the simple emotion of a moment ”, observes Stefano Vivan happily and excited.
When beauty intones the character, it fascinates and presses mystery.
