Exceptional guest of the closing night of the festival "Land between two seas", to the Albanian composer and pianist Aulon Naçi the Prize was awarded "Latin Sail".
The music of Aulon, appreciated, especially in Northern Europe, for the Mediterranean and traditional elements of his land, was chosen as a sort of ideal leitmotif of the evening because of his giving voice to the magic of the sea.
Not only that, as one can easily imagine, it is the marvelous sea of his Valona that inspired some of his works, transfigured with wise precision in the sound of his piano and string quartet that accompany it.
Aulon's music seems like a vast sea that envelops everything, in an ideal path that stretches from the classical dimension, enriched by the ancestral tradition of his land, to the point of going into contemporary avant-garde musical forms.
The sounds of the sea, citing the organizers of the event, they are entrusted to the execution of the Terra del Sole ensemble conducted by the maestro Enrico Tricarico. The theater of Gallipoli - bearing the name of the tenor arbëreshë Tito Schipa - it seems the ideal venue for Aulon's music, a return to its origins after a long pilgrimage through central and northern Europe.
For the Albanian musician to turn to streets with names as familiar as Borsci, Schipa o Gramsci it is in itself a kind of homecoming, in rediscovering the historical closeness between Albania and this Salento, once again united in the embrace represented by the sounds of his music.
This concert confirms what has already been demonstrated by this young and original musician, able to breathe new life into the classical tradition by rejuvenating, a very rare gift of this, the ambiance of courtly music "for the few" that keeps it away from most.
