As already happened in the last editions, Albania will also participate this year in the Venice Biennale. In the most important artistic event in Europe, Albania will present itself with a project by the artist Driant Zeneli.
"His works have been exhibited in Rome, Paris, Bergamo, Brest, Marseille, Chile etc. It is not often that a young artist like Driant has international experience with 11 years."- stressed the minister of culture, Elva Margariti.
Driant Zeneli has realized a project that includes two short films: the first concerning the metallurgical factory of Elbasan and the second concerning the children-workers of Bulqizë. Along with the two short films, the artist will present his other works ranging from his sketches to photographs taken during the project.
"I am very interested in all social and political aspects, so my desire was to create a parallel narrative, playing between reality and fiction."- said Zeneli.
The curator of the Albanian project at the Venice Biennale will be the famous European artist Alicia Knock.
The career of Driant Zeneli
Zeneli - born in Scutari in the 1983 and who lives and works between Tirana and Milan - will represent Albania with the project "Maybe the cosmos is not so extraordinary - perhaps the cosmos is not so extraordinary", edited by Alicia Knock of the Pompidou center of department of arts in Paris.
In 2008, Zeneli won the 'Onufri' award in Tirana and the following year the 'The Young European Artist Award'. He was the artistic director of 'Mediterranea 18', the 'Biennial' of young artists from Europe and the Mediterranean who was held for the first time in 2017 between Tirana and Durazzo. He is also one of the founders of the Harabel Contemporany Art Platform in Tirana.
His exhibitions have toured Europe: from Wales to France, passing through Turin, Leon in Spain, Karlsruhe in Germany and Prague in the Czech Republic. His curator, Alicia Knock, is working to expand even more, as in Africa and Central Europe.
