It is a literary competition divided into four sections, Tale / Reportage, Theatrical Song, Poetic Composition or Song (text and music)
It is promoted by Mai Late - Friends of Nuto Association in collaboration with the Nuto Revelli Onlus Foundation in memory of Silvio Giachino, a teacher of languages for many years, director of Italian Cultural Institutes abroad.
It enjoys the support of the CRT Foundation, and the Banca di Caraglio and the patronage of the Municipality of Cuneo and the Piedmont Region.
Registration is free and is reserved for "new citizens".
The reasons for the competition derive from the urgent need to offer immigrant citizens, who increasingly play an important role both from an economic and socio-cultural point of view, an opportunity to express themselves and interact with our society.
Language is the first bridge that is established between individuals and the traditions of which they are carriers: precisely for this reason the path towards coexistence between groups that have different origins and stories necessarily passes through cultural exchange. Of the rest of the ability to express one's belonging and identity, it is a substantial part of every "citizenship" project: being with and among others in the public space and in this capacity "taking the floor".
From these considerations comes the urgency to offer the "new citizens" a recognition that first of all rewards the word. All the more declined in the different forms that structure interculturality: the story / reportage, the theatrical piece, the poetic composition and the song.
The works will be examined by a jury, chaired by Anilda Ibrahimi, and composed of qualified exponents of the various sectors in which the competition is divided.
The jury will select the five finalists in each section, from which a winner and a runner-up will be chosen and assigned to them, after an interview, to highlight the originality of the work, an 1 prize (1500 euro) and an 2 prize (1000 EUR).
The announcement of the finalists will be held on June 2 2009, Republic Day and the awarding of winners during a cultural initiative scheduled for the autumn of 2009.
The texts must reach the organization of the competition by 31 in March 2009. Send (or deliver by hand) in 6 paper copies together with a brief biography with address (possibly also e-mail) and telephone number, to the following address: Fondazione Nuto Revelli, Corso Brunet 1, 12100 Cuneo.
The final decision of the jury will be communicated exclusively to the finalistidi each section and will be published on the website www.nutorevelli.org and transmitted to the press.
