The tasqebap made at home without a doubt can not miss in the menu of traditional dishes cooked by mothers and Albanian grandmothers. A very simple dish to prepare and often preferred for a tasty meal at lunch time.
It is the dish that never fails in the menus of traditional Albanian restaurants, and that in addition to the citizens of the Land of Eagles has also won most of the foreign tourists who visit Albania every year.
Tasqebap can be accompanied with many other traditional Albanian dishes, starting with the 'pilaf' (rice) but also with a fresh salad or simply with toasted bread dressed with oil and a little salt.
However, for an even more tasty taste tasqebap can be accompanied with some peculiarities of our cuisine such as 'turshite', the famous pickles prepared by Albanian families, but also with a side dish of vegetables (it matches perfectly especially with the purée of potatoes or boiled potatoes).
The homemade tasqebap recipePrint the recipe
- 500 grams of meat
- 2-3 onion slices
- 4-5 spoons of olive oil
- 1 honey spoon
- Half cup (from tea) of wine
- A sheet of laurel
- Half a tablespoon of tomato sauce or 2-3 tomato wedges
- 3 4-garlic cloves
- Salt and a little red pepper to taste
Tasqebap is usually prepared with lamb or veal. The meat is cut into thin strips or into small square pieces.
Sauté together with the grease and onion previously cut until a red-colored layer is created. Honey is added, it is fried for a while, wine, tomato sauce, bay leaf, garlic cloves, salt and water are added to cover the meat.
Boil on a low heat until the dish is ready. Tasqebap can also be accompanied by its own 'sauce'.
