Today, 28 January, we celebrate the 83th birthday of writer Ismail Kadare. And today, the municipality of Tirana - after the decision taken by the city council - has begun work to transform the home of the great Albanian writer into a museum.
The words of Veliaj and architect Terragni
"I am very happy that, on the occasion of the birthday of the great Ismail Kadare, we started the work in what is not just a house-museum, but is also an experience in the heart of Tirana.
A house that contains so much history and that has seen Kadare having the writer Dritero Agolli as a neighbor. ”- stated the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj.
The latter underlined how, thanks to this intervention, he will re-emerge, transformed, a jewel 'covered in dust':
"Thanks to the project by Elisabetta Terragni, the famous architect of the 'House of Leaves', we are working on one of the jewels covered with dust in the center of Tirana ,.
We have worked a lot with the buildings in Tirana, with the administrators, but this intervention is special. We will make sure that the building is transformed and arrives in its final phase as the great Maks Velo had planned, but the epicenter will be the apartment of Ismail Kadare where he lived from the years '70 to the years' 90 and composed some of his masterpieces."- continued the mayor, who wanted to thank Ismail Kadare and his partner Helena for their collaboration with the municipality of Tirana in transforming their home into a tourist attraction.
The importance of the project was also emphasized by the architect Elisabetta Terragni, who labeled it as very important for the new generations but also for the whole Albania:
"People can come here and learn a lot about him and at the same time see in depth what conditions were lived in Tirana at that time.
I think this is important for the new generations, for the children but also for the whole Albania and for the foreigners who will visit it."- underlined Elisabetta Terragni.
