The law of war that Greece proclaimed to Albania and Italy has not yet been repealed and continues to be used as a punishment for the Albanians. The only reason for the penalisation of Albania in this sanction is that in the 1940s, fascist soldiers crossed Albania to invade Greece.
This law describes in detail the assets confiscated as compensation for the attack on Greece. In his many articles the procedure for the redelivery of assets has been foreseen through the establishment of state commissions composed of many experts and ministers, an almost impossible procedure to carry out.
The same law sanctions the property of the Italians who, according to the Treaty of Paris Peace of 1946, were seized by the Greek side as compensation that the Italians owed to Greece as invaders.
The question of ownership confiscated from the Albanians continues to remain blocked, like the law itself. Moreover, this law has also inspired other regulations concerning properties violently taken from the Albanians at the beginning of the 40 years.
Until the 2006 the amount of blocked wealth reaches a figure of some billions of dollars.
