The Albanian writer Besnik Mustafaj was the guest of honor of the 46th edition of the Flaiano Literary Prize, on fiction and Italian.
An important part in the ceremonial event, held in Pescara, was dedicated to the promotion of his novel [amazon link = "8832823268 ″ /]. One year after its publication with Castelvecchi Editore, the novel continues to have an important echo in the media as well as being warmly welcomed by Italian critics.

The Flaiano awards
Founded in the 1973 by the journalist Edoardo Tiboni to honor Ennio Flaiano and constantly revive the study of his work, the Flaiano International Awards constitute a structure articulated in a whole series of manifestations, reviews, conferences, shows in which concrete reasons of culture flow together: in the sense production specific of "Facts" literary, theatrical, cinematographic, television programs that culminate on the summer and autumn days of the delivery of the prizes.
Biography of Besnik Mustafaj
Besnik Mustafaj, born 23 September of 1958, is a well-known Albanian politician and writer. He graduated in French Language and Literature from the University of Tirana and worked as a professor, translator and journalist. He is one of the founders of the Democratic Party of Albania. Ambassador to France from 1992 to 1997, he was Foreign Minister from 2005 to 2007, then resigned due to dissent with Prime Minister Sali Berisha and devote himself definitively to writing.
In the 1997 he resigns after the rise of the socialist party. He returns to Albania as a representative of the Democratic Party, from which he will depart in the 2009.
Among the most important contemporary Albanian writers, Mustafaj is the author of numerous novels, essays, collections and translations. His works have been translated into many languages, receiving a large critical acclaim. In Italy he has published [amazon link = "8832826666 ″ /] (Garzanti, 1993) and the collection of poems [amazon link = "8897639593 ″ /] (2012). In the 1997 he won the prize "Mediterranean"For the novel Daullja prej letre (paper drum).
The story of his [amazon link = "8832823268 ″ /] leaves in a prison in the Balkans, where political prisoner Bardhyl Huta is united with his grandfather, father and wife by a singular fate that divides generations into prisoners and guardians. Past and present are reunited in the sense of imprisonment, the only constant pain between the emotions demolished by the violent coercion of the guards and the stubborn attempt to escape the real chains, those of the mind.
