Luigj Gurakuqi was an Albanian politician and writer (Shkodër 1879 - Bari 1925); he advocated the use, as a literary language, of the speech of Elbasan and in this form he wrote articles, poems (often under pseudonyms, such as Lek Gruda and Iakin Shkodra).
Both the poems and the prose, perfect as models of lucid and harmonious style, are perfect as a literary workmanship.
He was assassinated in Bari where there is a commemorative plaque, placed at that point because at that point there was the cafe where the 2 March of the 1925, Luigj Gurakuqi, he was stabbed to death from his cousin, Baltjon Stambolla, sent to Bari from Ahmet Zogu.
