Luigj Gurakuqi was an Albanian politician and writer (Shkodër 1879 - Bari 1925); he advocated the use, as a literary language, of the speech of Elbasan and in this form he wrote articles, poems (often under pseudonyms, such as Lek Gruda and Iakin Shkodra).
Both the poems and the prose, perfect as models of lucid and harmonious style, are perfect as a literary workmanship.
He was assassinated in Bari where there is a commemorative plaque, placed at that point because at that point there was the cafe where the 2 March of the 1925, Luigj Gurakuqi, he was stabbed to death from his cousin, Baltjon Stambolla, sent to Bari from Ahmet Zogu.
Luigj Gurakuqi, to whom theUniversity of Scutari (Albania), was a well-known figure in the patriotic and democratic Albanian movement, a poet and a journalist.
Born in Scutari il 19 February of the 1879. From the 1901-1906 he attendedUniversity of Naples, where he graduated.
in 1906 began to devote himself to politics and in 1912 he was appointed Minister of Education in the government of Ismail Qemali.
From the 1921 to the 1924 was deputy of Scutari in the National Council. He participated in the 24 June Revolution of the 1924 in the government of Fan Stilian Noli (Fan Noli), where he held the post of Minister of Finance.
His memory is a blessing for the beloved Country of the Eagles.
