The event of the 68-Sanremo edition I followed with great interest because, not only the Italian tradition of this Festival and we Albanians "follow each other" as they say, each other for years, even when the censorship in Albania prevented to follow the foreign television networks, but also because we have commented with various Albanian friends and relatives that Sanremo have followed from Europe and the United States of America as well.
And moreover, we Albanians of Italy, we find ourselves further involved today, living here, from this event of Italian national excellence.
I am excited about everything that is beautiful and positive.
Starting from individual cases, and then ending up in multiple, social contexts.
The Sanremo stage is not just a tribune to give voice to artists and music.
It is also a forum from which to send messages with a strong social and cultural content, there has been talk of emigration, war and peace, the sinkholes, the figure of the woman, the youth and her commitment in the social and labor world, etc. .
These were contained of the chosen texts of the songs and of the presentations of the conductors.
All united by the language and the unique and universal thread of music.
The conductors Baglioni, Hunziker e Field bean, very prepared and multifaceted figures. High artistic and cultural depth and beautiful stage presence.
The Italian High Fashion that the whole world envies us has had a spectacular performance in the clothes of the conductors, in those of the orchestra and in the elegant clothing style of all the singers.
The scenography, spectacular and magical.
In a climate for Italy, recently tired and depressed by the crisis, by various problems and social and political wounds, by an emotionally negative load emitted by so many news reports or episodes of racism of which the newscasts are full, the kermesse di Sanremo made it possible in the evenings when the Festival took place, to bring into the homes of Italians and all listeners, a climate of pleasant harmony, of peace with a fusion of beautiful music and beautiful words.
On the tastes there is no question of course and one cannot even think that all Italians have followed Sanremo. Although the ratings are record-breaking this year.
But, to be honest, expressions like: "But why, do you still follow Sanremo?" I found them a bit similar to those who gave up such as: "But why, do you still go to vote?"
Here, this sense of indifference towards national manifestations of any sphere, be they of culture or politics, is not pleasant.
For the Albanians, if this record-breaking event gave the winner's podium to an exceptional couple of artists, such as Ermal Meta and Fabrizio Moro, with the song: "You didn't do anything to me", this means an added value and a double victory.
The universal language of music, once again performed miracles.
And as Victor Hugo says,
"What cannot be said and what cannot be silenced, music expresses it." Victor Hugo
A Festival that harmoniously combines the legends of Italian music of a certain age, with new promises, youth voices.
An elderly 83 dancer who performs on the Ariston with a band and an elderly couple instead, the grandparents of a singer, who dance and kiss together while their nephew sings.
Of these gems only Sanremo can surprise.
Another very pleasant detail for the festival was also the presence in the Coro dell'Antoniano Mariele Ventre of Bologna, which has excellently performed alongside the group "Social Status", winner of second place, of an Albanian child, Enea Qendro, from the angelic voice.
Of musical and cultural events of this caliber, Italy has always been noted and I hope that this Italian national tradition will be preserved over time.
Now we just have to wait for the other majestic event of music, L 'Eurovision Song Contest 2018 that will take place the 12 May in Lisbon, in which precisely there will be a double Albanian presence consisting of Ermal Meta for Italy, together with Fabrizio Moro and from Eugent Bushpepa to Albania.
