Unless you've lived in a cave for most of the 2018 you'll know for sure who Ava Max is, the musical mind behind the single 'Sweet But Psycho'. But what is the story of the brilliant pop star?
His true name is Amanda Ava Koci, the 16 February 1994 was born in Wisconsin (USA), from immigrant parents fromAlbania.
Since she was a little girl, Ava is passionate about music, also thanks to a voice inherited from her opera singer mother. Already as a child, Ava refined her vocal techniques by participating in many singing competitions.
Inspired by the courageous choice of her parents to flee to the United States, Ava decided to go to Los Angeles to achieve her goals and today we can say that she did it.
Here are the things you need to know about the Albanian-born singer:
1 - He had his big break thanks to Cirkut
Cirkut is the pseudonym of Canadian producer Henry Walter, who has launched some of the greatest music tracks of the last decade as Katy Perry's 'Roar' and 'The Weekend Starboy'.
Walter took Ava under his wing and helped her create 'Sweet But Psycho', which launched her into the limbo of world superstars.
2 - He played some of his female characters to promote his single
Ava explained that in her song the meaning of 'Sweet But Psycho' is that of 'a frank girl'. To make the most of this point he decided to interpret some of his favorite female characters, from pop culture to cinema: such as Uma Thurman in Pulp Fiction and Angelina Jolie in 'Girl, Interrupted'.
3 - He rebuilt Aqua's 'Barbie Girl' in a feminist hymn
We all know 'Barbie Girl' but something of her text did not fit the spirit of Ava.
"I always thought the melody of that song was incredible, but I didn't like anything about the text. Every time I listened to the song I thought 'I'm not anyone's Barbie girl. "
From this came his remake, which seems even more difficult than the original.
4 - His greatest influence was Madonna (in addition to her mother, of course)
"It is so incredible. It is always open and free, and this is what I want everyone to feel towards me.
My favorite Madonna song? Like a Prayer, of course "- Ava replied when asked why she felt so tied to canante.
"But I always look at my mother with admiration, too. He really taught me everything I know "- added Ava.
5 - The 2019 will bring us its first album
He whetted his fans with collaborations with David Guetta for 'Let it Be Me' and with Jason Derulo and Vice for 'Make Up'. The best, however, is yet to come; in fact, this year Ava will release its first album.
