On the occasion of 2020 Europe Day The EU institutions have paid tribute, through numerous online activities, to the many European citizens who, in a spirit of solidarity, are helping the Union to go through the coronavirus emergency.
La European virtual week that celebrates the EU-Albania solidarity it was a huge success with 2,7 million people reached through the EU delegation's social media platforms!
Among the testimonials we also find that of Albano Carrisi who sent a special message to his Albanian fans with a video prepared on the occasion of Europe Week 2020.
Albano's message for the Albanian people
To all the Albanian people, I from Puglia send a hug. Apulian but now also Albanian because they gave me my passport and I am an Albanian citizen in all respects.
I have had many meetings in Albania in all these years. The first time I was in Albania was in 1985 and I brought my father.
It was a very interesting meeting because they woke up unique and unrepeatable emotions because my father had always spoken to me about Albania in an extraordinary way despite having gone during the World War.
But he always spoke of the positivity of the Albanian people. When he asked me before 1985 "before I die I want to go to Albania" I got busy, and for me it was a very interesting discovery because it showed me all those areas that he had told me during my childhood and above all he told me "I've never killed anyone."
After I remember the concert I did in Albania, the first concert of a western singer, in the still communist country, now at the end of the communist domination. Then I remember the concert of 20 September 1989 in the city of Tirana. And who forgets it? And many other occasions. What can I say ... my heart is also in your country.
The 2020 European week was organized by the EU delegation to Albania in collaboration with 13 Member States' embassies.
