Filming began in Tirana last 14 April 'East West East' (in original language 'Lindje-Perëndim-Lindje'), Italian-Albanian co-production, written and directed by Gjergj Xhuvani, Albanian director already awarded for Best European Screenplay at the Sundance Film Festival in the 2004.
In the eight weeks of filming in programming, the film series will move to Durres, Permet, Pogradec, Grabovice, Shen Naun in Albania, Oher and Qafthana, in Macedonia, while, for the last two weeks, the planned shooting will be shot in Trieste.
The film set in the 1990 tells the adventures of a group of amateur cyclists led by Ilo, a former fifty year old champion, who are called to France for a race to represent Albania. The story takes place on the eve of the Albanian socio-political upheaval that led to the restoration of democracy. "I wanted to tell about those difficult years - said the director Gjergj Xhuvani - the pleasure for the naivety of my Albanian brothers, their unknown heroism, the feeble voice of their reasons, the disturbance of tenacity that does not surrender to general hostility, the dreams of cunning, the stubborn study of new rules, their enormous eager joyful effort to survive "." To do so, I reported the calendar backwards, I created a team of improvised but determined riders, I launched them in the West Eldorado - the director continued - and reported in the pride of the East, in time to learn about the new cardinal points that the world he gave himself up by breaking down the last hideous walls ".
In the cast: Ndricim Xhepa - who plays the role of Ilo - and Petrit Malaj, the deputy minister, very well known and appreciated actors in Albania. Among the Italians Nela Lucic, the Bosnian actress who has already worked with Pupi Avati, Peter Del Monte, etc.
