Everything is ready for the eighth edition of the Med Festival Puglia, cultural itineraries in Ionian land, the festival dedicated to the expressions of the Mediterranean promoted by the Pro Loco Marciana tourist association San Marzano of St. Joseph.

The 30 and 31 July, in the spaces of the historic center of San Marzano di San Giuseppe (Taranto), the two days of the festival will take place and the different forms of art will be celebrated: music, theater, visual arts, literature.
The inauguration of the Med Festival is scheduled for Sunday 30 July, at 20.15, with an official ceremony, in the presence of the mayor of San Marzano di San Giuseppe Giuseppe Tarantino, the junta and the ambassador of the Republic of Albania in Italy SE Anila Bitri.
A journey through the sounds, cultures and expressions of the Mediterranean in the historic center of San Marzano di San Giuseppe (Taranto), through the recovery of one's linguistic identity. The Municipality of San Marzano di San Giuseppe, the Puglia Region, sponsored the event.and the Archbishop's Curia of the Diocese of Scutari (Albania).
The theme of the 2017 is "to take crown", to confirm a cultural identity and a historical, cultural and linguistic belonging starting from the enhancement of the linguistic tradition arbëreshë, the ancient language spoken in San Marzano di San Giuseppe and in a few other municipalities of the Southern Italy, brought to Puglia by the Albanian communities of Morea and Ciamuria, today in present-day Greece, who settled in Italy between the 15th and 18th centuries, following the death of the Albanian national hero Giorgio Castriota Skanderbeg.
The events, in the two evenings, start at 20.30, with itinerant and fixed musical performances scattered in the historic center. The 30 July will perform the groups "La legge di Murphy", "Le tre corde", "Salvario", "Ada de Cataldo", "Katundy ne zembra", "Aeren", "Solo", "Folkasud". The 31 July, instead, space to "Vincenzo Maggiore", "Ligorio and Saracino", "Il confine", "Mediterranean Ensemble". At the 23, the great concert of the Sud Sound System, from the central stage, will conclude. The Sud Sound System concert area can be accessed by paying an 5 euro donation.
In the two evenings, meanwhile, the theater will also be the protagonist. "Vëj kurorë" will be staged, directed by Alfredo Traversa and the music of Katundi në zembra; the costumes are curated by the association Rrënjët te tona-Grupe Arbreshë Shen Marcani. The historical call of one of the oldest rites of the San Marzanese Arbëreshe minority will be proposed in theatrical form: marriage.
